NCARC’s Vision

Every Native Nation has a coordinated response to child maltreatment that honors their cultural values, empowers healing, and contributes to a healthy community.

What We Believe

  • Native Nations are sovereign and vested with the right to determine the best path for their people.

  • Tribes, as sovereigns, must be the arbiters when questions arise about the types of services that will best serve Tribal children and families.

  • Native Nations have the capacity to develop multidisciplinary teams and child advocacy centers to meet the needs of their communities.

  • Tribes know the consequences of child maltreatment in their own communities and are intensifying their commitments to community, family, and individual wellness in response.

  • Many non-Tribal service providers and treatment models minimize the value of holistic Tribal practices.
